We have had some great weather to start the new biking season and most of us have probably had our bikes out by now, unless of course you are a year-round rider and never put it away for winter.
Unfortunately it is also the time when most motorcycling accidents and injuries occur in Wales and probably the rest of the UK.
Over the past 10 years, more than 3/4 of all motorcycle casualties in Wales happened in fine weather and in daylight with more than half of those occurring at a junction, especially at T-junctions*.
Many of the crashes involving motorcyclists are not of their making, but whether or not at fault, motorcyclists are more vulnerable and so are likely to come off worst. To make it even worse, many accidents are avoidable. So do yourself a favour, enjoy riding your bike on our great Welsh roads but keep alert, ride defensively, stay safe and go home happy.
