'AM' Moped Licence

You can ride a moped with L plates after completing your CBT, or alternatively you could get your 'AM' licence by taking a theory and a practical test 

'AM' is suitable for those:

  • Who are aged 16+
  • Who have already completed CBT

Benefits:

  • You can ride a moped up to 50cc with a top speed of 45 km/h (about 28mph) without L plates
  • You'll also be able to carry a passenger

We'd strongly recommend that everybody undertakes additional training after completing their CBT, even if they decide not to take an 'AM' test.

'A1' Motorcycle Licence (17+)

'A1' is suitable for those who are aged 17+ and have already completed CBT

'A2' Motorcycle Licence (19+)

'A2' is suitable for those who are aged 19+ and have either held an 'A1' licence for 2 years or completed CBT and do both a theory and a practical test

'A' Motorcycle Licence (21+)

'A' is suitable for those Who are aged 21+ and have held an A2 Motorcycle Licence for 2 years or are aged 24+ and would like to take the Direct Access Scheme by completing CBT, a theory and a practical test
'A' is suitable for those Who are aged 21+ and have held an A2 Motorcycle Licence for 2 years or are aged 24+ and would like to take the Direct Access Scheme by completing CBT, a theory and a practical test
