Wheels2Work Torfaen

Are you unemployed and struggling to secure work due to lack of transport? Then a new moped hire scheme could be your ticket to a brighter future!

The newly launched Wheels2Work initiative in Torfaen allows eligible participants to hire one of the four brand new mopeds for up to six months.

The scheme will also cover the cost of Compulsory Basic Training licences, which drivers need to ride mopeds legally on public roads.

The initiative is run Torfaen Council’s CELT Plus+ and Inspire+ projects, which support unemployed adults to find work, as well as helping employed people improve their career prospects.

To access the Wheels2Work scheme participants must be unemployed; live in Torfaen and have a clean driving licence. They will also need to have sought employment and be prepared to train for and pass the CBT licence.

Cllr Joanne Gauden, Executive Member for Economy, Skills and Regeneration at Torfaen Council, said, “By providing this support, we’re giving job seekers in Torfaen a practical solution to overcome the sometimes-significant barrier of transport to work. We hope this initiative will lead to more people in Torfaen securing local and stable jobs to improve their lives”.

CELT Plus and Inspire projects are both funded by the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund.
