Home to work by BIKE via the “scenic route” over the top of the Brecon Beacons - 116 miles.

Result? A happy biker, especially as it was an early morning ride on the hottest day of the year so far!

The Route:

Starting at Pontypool I take the A4042 towards Abergavenny then follow the A465 towards Gilwern and head in to Crickhowell.  I then continue on the A40 to Brecon and use the B4520 north out of Brecon and bear left on to the B4519 at Upper Chapel and up onto the Beacons past Epynt Visitor Centre.

If you take the left turn to go through Llangammarch Wells, then Tirabad you can join A483 at Cynghordy.  I then follow it all the way down to Llandovery for breakfast!

Heading back east along A40 through Brecon, to Bwlch, I bear right through Llangynidyr and out on to the B4558, right onto B4560 and up over the mountain towards Beaufort.

I pick up the A465 to Brynmawr then use the B4248 to Blaenavon and B4246 and B4043 down to Pontypool.
